Accessibility Policy
Prepare Education Uganda is committed to inclusive education. This policy is grounded in Uganda's Persons with Disabilities Act, 2020, the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995 (Article 35), the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the global Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
1. Standards we follow
The website and dashboard target WCAG 2.1 Level AA on perceivability, operability, understandability and robustness, and apply ARIA landmarks, keyboard focus management and meaningful alt text on informative images.
2. Design measures
- High-contrast palette tested against WCAG contrast ratios.
- Resizable text up to 200% without loss of content.
- Keyboard-only navigation for all interactive elements.
- Screen-reader friendly labels on forms, charts and report tables.
- Semantic HTML headings (h1–h3) for clear document structure.
- Visible focus rings; no purely-colour-based status indicators.
3. Alternative formats
On request, parent-ready PDF reports can be provided as plain-text or large-print versions. Career Week speakers are briefed on accessible delivery and provided sign-language interpretation on request, where lead time allows.
4. Reasonable accommodation
Counsellors may request reasonable accommodation for any learner — extended time on assessments, alternate input methods, simplified language versions of questionnaires, or face-to-face onboarding. We commit to responding within 5 working days.
5. Ongoing improvement
Accessibility is reviewed every release cycle. Known issues and the remediation plan are tracked internally; users are encouraged to report barriers so we can fix them quickly.
6. Reporting an accessibility barrier
If any part of our service is hard to use because of a disability, please contact us. We will work with you to provide the information or service in an accessible way and to fix the underlying issue.

7. Redress
If a complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may escalate to the National Council for Disability (NCD) Uganda or any competent court. We acknowledge accessibility as a right, not a favour.
