User Policy & Acceptable Use
These terms apply to every counsellor, school administrator, parent and student who uses Prepare Education Uganda. They are governed by the laws of Uganda — including the Computer Misuse Act, 2011 (as amended 2022), the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, the Contracts Act, 2010, and globally-accepted norms of fair use, child-safeguarding and good faith.
1. Eligibility
School counsellors and administrators must be authorised by their school. Students under 18 are onboarded only through a counsellor with parent/guardian consent. Individuals must be 18+ to create their own account.
2. Acceptable use — what you may do
- Generate A-Level combination reports for students you legitimately advise.
- Share reports with the student and their parent or guardian.
- Use the platform for in-school career guidance and academic planning.
- Contact our team for support, training or feature requests.
3. Prohibited use — what you may not do
- Create accounts using another person's identity or false credentials.
- Upload data of a student without informed consent of the student and (if a minor) the parent or guardian.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, overload or break the platform.
- Resell, sublicense, or use the platform's reports for commercial profiling outside of student counselling.
- Post or transmit content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, or harmful to minors.
- Use the platform to circumvent UNEB, NCDC or examination integrity rules.
4. Account security
You are responsible for keeping your password and school access code confidential. Suspected compromise must be reported to us immediately so the account can be locked. We may suspend accounts on reasonable suspicion of misuse.
5. Content and intellectual property
Student data entered remains the property of the student and the school as joint controllers. The platform's software, branding, prompt designs, prediction logic and report templates remain the intellectual property of Prepare Education Uganda and may not be copied without written permission.
6. AI-generated recommendations
Combination recommendations are AI-assisted but not absolute. The counsellor retains final professional judgement, and the school retains final pastoral responsibility. Prepare Education Uganda is not liable for outcomes that result from disregarding, misinterpreting or partially applying a recommendation.
7. Payments
All amounts are in Ugandan Shillings (UGX) inclusive of applicable taxes. Receipts are issued by email on confirmation of payment. Refunds are governed by the Refund Policy.
8. Termination
You may close your account at any time by writing to us. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these terms, for non-payment, or where required by law. On termination, the data-deletion timelines in the Privacy Policy apply.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ugandan law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We do not exclude liability for fraud, gross negligence or anything that cannot be lawfully limited.
10. Governing law and dispute resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda. Disputes will first be addressed in good-faith negotiation, and if unresolved, referred to mediation in Kampala before litigation in the courts of Uganda.
